Super Mario World: Does It Hold Up?

Super Mario Would is often said to be one of, if not THE best games on the SNES. Is this statement true, or do people just like it because it was the first game on the SNES and the first one they played? Well, let's take a dive into the game and check it out.

Starting off, the story is just crap. The princess got captored again? And by who else but Bowser? Take a look at a better game, foe example, Demon's Crest. The story in that game is much more mature, it's about magical cristals and cool gargoyles. What I'm saying is, Princes Peach could havve been kidnapped by a gargoyle instead. That would be badazz,.

Yep, that's really the WHOLE story...

When we get into the real game, I think it's honesrly fun. Mario can jump, fly, shoot fire and swim. Do you know who else can do all that stuff? Fireband, from the game Demon's Crest. With his different crests he can use different powers to overcome challenges. And he doesn't have a time limit in his game. Mario can only play for a limited time, so you have to make it count every time, no pun extended.

Mario music is egxactly that. It's Mario music. It sounds how Mario music always does. It doesnt sound anything like demonic or scary. There's no effort put into this game really. Mario can defeat a Koopa Paratoopa but he could never defeat Fireband or the Ninja Turtles when they have their powers from Turtles in Time. It wouldn't even matter anyway cuz the princess. I give the audio 10 out of 10.

So, Yoshi. I mentioned in a previous editorial that Yoshi is kinda cool and kinda not. That's true here too. He can shoot firebals and stuff but Mario could already do that. So I don't see the point. Yoshi can't even go into castles or haunted mansions so he's kind of useless. They could put him on the space shuttle for all I care.

Just what's the point?

Boss fights are kind of cool, like the one in this picture which I think has mode 7 but I'm not sure exactly. But none of them are as big and epic as the boss battles in Demon's Crest, like when you fight Arma.

Overalls, I think this game is pretty fun, but it's not as much cool factor as Demon's Crest. But that's any game, honestly... It never really stood a chance. Thanks for reading, and I'll catch you in the next awesome editorial!
