Lapis Lazu Land Review

Hey guys Mike here. Today I want to give a review to a very special game. It's called Lapis Lazu Land and it's one of the greatest hidden jims for the SNES. Not a lot of people have played it so I just want to shine the spot light ionto it and give it some talking about. I am very biassed to this game so I asked Jimmy to chip in because he doesn't like it as much, so between the two of us it should be a very imparshall review. We will also be day byewing(???) our brand new revolutionary Super Mario Flagpole rating system in this review. Buckle in for the first chapter of DCTAY: EDITORIALS: SEASON TWO !

Gameplay (by Mike)

So this game is kind of hecktic but once you get the hang of it it's pretty cool. It's kind of like the sim parts of Act Raiser but with like 500x more stuff to manage and you don't have the action stages. Which is kinda lame but it makes up for it with fun. You can build your town how you like and fight off these little grape guys. Tired of blasting em yourself? Make the townsfolk do it with a clock tower, which, by the way is an awesome reference to Castlevania, and also Clock Tower.

It might be an Apropos x Lullaby game, but it doesn't play anything like the regular RPG style. Well, except there's still talking. Once you get into the game though, it's a lot more action and stragedy. I want to touch on the story but Jimmy said he wanted to do the story so I'll let him, but just know that there are some cool moments for AxL fans. Which i kind of am but not really. I think the weakest point of the game is that it isn't very popular and nobody has even ripped all the sprites yet, but if you give it a try you'll probably like it! 9/10 flagpoles!

Story (by Jimmy)

Ok so let me set this straight... the story kicks off with a bunny rabbit called shuro in his house talking about a demon egg that's about to hatch (which, to be french, is f###ing awesome, and he should of let it hatch) but then a night appeared and tells him to help him with that.

then they meet all sorts of other nights like the carp night (which she is awesome, because she looks like robocop but she's also a chick. so she's like an awesome sexy robocop. but she doesnt use guns and crap like robocop does, and she doesnt get a machine gun and a jecktpack wich i think robocop has, but i may be mistaken. but she does have some cool strings between her arms, which i dont know what they do, maybe their some kind of weapon? i didnt really understand that but who cares. also she speaks irish like the big fat b######stard from austing powers, which is an awesome movie, me and mike watched it after playing lapislazuililand and it was awesome. we had chinese take out and i had generous chicken and a bottle of cola. it. was. AWESOME.) and then there's poultry night which is some kind of chicken who talks in rhymes, but then he also says songs someitmes, which i dont really care about.

they they meet the oregon night who is awesome and scary but then he starts talking super lame-like... so MINUS SOME POINTS FOR THAT!!!!!! because the story then ends witha "they all lived happily ever after" WHICH IS SUPER LAME, and i dodn't really understand what they did, cuz they just sing some music and then thats that. Mike says there's story connections to another game called Aporops Lullaby or something, and that if i played it it would make sense, but I don't care about that game because there's too much reading in it. so my rating for the story is THREE OUT OF TEN FLAGPOLE.

Music (by Mike)

The music in this game is like music to my ears. The song that plays in the circus makes me want to get up and dance just like that funny clown. Who can forget the song that plays when you lose a stage, and makes you feel like a stupid idiot? I know I can't. What's even better is the song when you win a stage. It makes you feel like a cool guy. The little tutariel song is good. Get used to it because if you're like me you'll be spending hours in the tutariel figuring everything out. Just as same, the song when people are talking is pretty sothing which is nice considering sometimes people won't just SHUT. THE. F. UP. So get used to that one too.

I think my favorite song by far has to be the ending song where all the knights sing together. Don't get me wrong, I love heavy metal most of all, but if a song is catchy, it's freakin catchy. What can I say. Oh, I have to mention all the cool remixes for the gold rush mode. They're the same songs basically but with a cool techno twist. Techno is cool it makes me think of Mortal Combat and Killer Insect. If only they had an AxL fighting game. That would be so awesome! Shiro Vs. Organ Knight... Shiro is so small he'd be like impossible to hit. So I guess they'd just run out the clock every round. But I'm getting off tropic. I give the LLL music TEN out of TEN FLAGPOLES because it's always stuck in my head. Whoever wrote this music deserves a big headphones, just my opinion.

graphics (by jimmy)

well what is there to say about graphics that hasnt already been said. the game is made of art that's all cute and adorable and shizz, which as you know is NOT the thatchroufe style. the evil oranges that arrive sometimes are awesome, and there's a cool dungeon that you can build (which you CAN NOT enter by the way, so that's just absolutely unfair bullcrap), but that's all the more edgy-type graphics that you may find. the game uses no mode 7, except in the map screen where the island is all mode 7-like. Which is, utterly, completely awesome. So i might just have to bumb up the score just for that little ace on the game's shoulder.

the talking sprites during the story scenes are cool i guess, and I like that carp night looks like a sexy robocop, because robocop is awesome and sexy chicks are AWESOME. PEACE OUT. 7 FLAGPOLES for MODE 7.

So, that's the review. I think Jimmy and I came together for a really comprehensible look at Lapis Lazu Land and a strong start to DC:TAY:EDITORIALS:SEASON 2. Fun fact for the DCTAY histarians, when we started the site it was originally supposed to be LAPIS LAZU LAND: The After Years! Unfortulately we didn't get too far with that but I still have the old website. If you want to see that just click here. Like I said it never got finished...

Anyways that's it for me, thanks for reading another sweet review by me, and by Jimmy. Any closing ceremonies Jimmy?

Demons Crest is better fool.
